Sunday Salon: April, April, April

April 05, 2009 By: J.C. Montgomery Category: Reading Journal

As the storm clouds begin to clear and warmer weather approaches, the month comes into focus.

All I can say is, “Oh my!”

First Weekend:
As in this one right here. Just relaxing, as it will be the last weekend for me to enjoy such lazy days.

Second Weekend:
It’s Easter and I’m doing all the cooking. Well, except for salad and desert. But my forte are the mains and sides anyway, so it’s all good. Ten of us are expected. I really don’t mind since we’re only inundated like this once a year. Whew!

Third Weekend:
Our new triple A team, The Reno Aces, begins playing in their new stadium downtown. We can’t make it to opening day, but will be going the Sunday and Monday after.

But wait that’s not the only exciting thing going on. It’s Read-A-Thon time!!

Oh no, what have I done?? It begins 5 AM pacific time on Saturday, ending the same time Sunday morning. The game starts at 1 PM but we’ll be leaving earlier to park and take a walk around the new stadium.

I just hope we’re in the shade and if not, that my husband will at least cover me up so I don’t get third degree burns since I’ll probably be passed out sometime around the second or third inning.

Fourth Weekend:
The Spring 2009 Booksale Bonanza put on by the Friends of Washoe County Library. I haven’t missed one since last year. I usually bring two large tote bags and a wish list. Although if history determines future – even a little bit – about 25% of the books I actually buy will be on that list. Hey, at least I try to stick to a plan.

April, April, April. What a month, and it’s only just begun.

  2. The read-a-thon ends at 8am here. And we are driving to a friend’s birthday by 10am, Lol. The things we do for reading!

  3. You’re very brave scheduling anything for after the read-a-thon! My friends and family know that they’re just not going to see me for the whole weekend. :)
