A Series Collected

There are a lot of series out there in fiction-land. I’ve read my share, and I’m learning about more in my job at a used bookstore.

Every day I get questioned about a particular book in a series or which book comes next. FictionDB.com has been a tremendous resource. It helps in keeping my own lists straight, and I am always able to give customers the information they need quickly and accurately.

It also provides easy to access lists of writers in a particular genre. It’s a site every fiction reader and blogger should have bookmarked.

Where is this all leading? Long, long ago I read a series that I’ve never forgotten. Somehow, along the path of life I lost the books. Not until I began working in a bookstore did I hope to re-acquire my lost loves.

One by one, I began coming across each book. Yet number one eluded me. I’ve learned over the course of working in the store that invariably, the first book in the series can be the hardest to come across. Especially if you want to buy it used.

Not only that, I really wanted all of the books to be from the same publisher. For me, in my own home library, I prefer that all the spines have the same appearance.  Color me picky.

Today fate not only smiled upon me but gave me a big ol’ high-five.

My collection of Mary Stewart’s Arthurian Saga is complete!

I am so excited. I cannot wait to re-read these. I hope the magic I found within them still exists all these years later.

I think I’m going to do a ”Second Honeymoon Summer” and give myself a second chance at a first love.

And then you’re going to loan them to me, right? I haven’t read those in ages either! =)

I loved those books years ago! I had large chunks memorized because I’d reread them so many times. Let me know how the reread goes– I’m scared to try, what if I didn’t like them?

That’s a gorgeous set of covers, too.

I’ve never read these, but have the first 3 on my shelf at home. I’m planning on at least getting to The Crystal Cave this year. I thought it was a trilogy though. I’d never heard of The Wicked Day before this post!
