Ratings Explained
5 Stars – Outstanding Read
I couldn’ stop reading except under extreme duress or someone waving a non-fat latte under my nose. And even then, I had to think twice about putting it down. Maybe three times.
4 Stars – Great Read
I did put the book down for that latte, but couldn’t wait until I could start up where I left off.
3 Stars – Good Read
I liked what I was reading, but was okay with setting it aside to enjoy my drink. With a scone. The story was good, just not good enough to compete with my addiction to lattes and savory snacks.
2 Stars – Okay Read
Not only was I easily distracted by caffeinated drinks and biscuit like substances, I was looking for any excuse that gave me a break from reading this book. This is your classic in-between rating. I didn’t hate the book, but I didn’t love it either. Think “Meh.”
1 Star – Bad Read
Even if someone bribed me with a week’s worth of free lattes, I would not consider reading this book again. I finished it, but it left me feeling like I could’ve been doing something much more enjoyable. Anything really.
0 Stars – Couldn’t Read (DNF)
I couldn’t finish it. Not for all the tea in China. Or lattes in Seattle. (What can I say, espresso will always be my first love.)
I review from the heart: meaning, what I share with my readers is how the book affected me and why. I touch upon plot and characterizations, and shy away from ever providing spoilers. I may use verbiage from jacket covers as well as synopses, and I will also quote from the author but only about the book and its content. Quotes will be taken from author’s own website and/or any interviews, introductions, as well as any notes provided in the book.
